"The Dance"
by CL Gillmore

A tentative waltz—sway, rise and fall.
Forward, side, back—a reflective recall.
Letters and words now carefully framed.
Each thought rehearsed again and again.
No turn or nod is left up to chance.
Steps have become a well-practiced dance.
Cues and timing both cautiously guarded.
The familiar rhythm lost and discarded.
Each dancer wary of crossing that line.
A closed position of mutual resign.

How far the distance traveled in a beat?
A tentative waltz left incomplete.

Arizona's Birthday Celebration on Valentine's Day!

YOU ARE INVITED
TO THE 100TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF
THE STATE OF ARIZONA

Tuesday, February 14, 2012
 Arizona Statehood Day Expo 2012

Mary L. Holden and I collaborated on a Minibuk, "Yavapai" which we introduced at the 26th Annual National Hispanic Women's Conference in Phoenix, Arizona on October 6 & 7th, 2011.  It has been reprinted for this special celebration,  see above!

Mary presented "Yavapai" to the Arizona Centennial Commission, and the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission, and they have officially approved of our book.

We have been invited to showcase our accomplishments, and have taken a Booth for Statehood Day, February 14, 2012, set up on the House and Senate Lawns at the Capitol Complex.

Mary and I are both Arizona natives and I was born in Prescott, thus the inspiration for the title, "Yavapai."

There will be many wonderful activities on the 14th. The Happy Birthday Arizona Celebration begins at 9am and the USPS First Day Issue Celebration will be on the Main Stage. Performances, birthday cake, legislative events and many other exciting activities will be available to guests.

We look forward to seeing you!

"The Vessel" on Display

Henneman's present works include,
"The Vessel"

She recreates spaces that we can enter mentally and visually
in a way that seems to have no parallels in contemporary art.
Henneman has evolved a technique of painting whereby
layers of pigment are applied one over the other, forming
thick strata of paint. How many coats of paint ?!!
The entire process is lengthy and deliberate.

Just like Kathryn, a deliberate artist.

The Vessel will be on display during Modernism Week
in Palm Springs at the residence of Lance O'Donnell.

Check this out on the home tour.

Henneman New Collection: Back of the Moon

Kathryn believes that the eye can consume art as food is consumed by the mouth.
“There is a certain heat in my work.
I see paints as salsas, as secret sauces and the canvas as a banquet table,” she said.
