Val Vista Lakes Womens Club member wins 100 Candles
The Val Vista Lakes Women's Club had their Annual Welcome Back Dinner last Wednesday night at their beautiful clubhouse in Gilbert, Arizona.
The club's mission is to promote a positive environment for the women of the Val Vista Lakes Community, where they can participate in activities that build friendships and serve the needs of the community at large.
Kathryn was gracious enough to donate a print of her "100 Candles" which commemorates the 100 year birthday of the State of Arizona to the raffle that night.
Donna Gronemeyer was the lucky winner of the print!

"Allegorical Journey"
by Kathryn Henneman
"Common Bond"
The shadowed streaks of twilight slip silently away
And tuck behind the mountains to mark another day.
Now leaving just the night sounds to whisper and remind
Of magical trips and trusted friends, lost and left behind.
To a time when only dreams had the power to transcend
And bring us together, beyond the unrest, one by one as friends.
Kindred souls, sharing a moment, bound by love and freedom.
Moved by the words and music...we danced to a different drum.
Those days and nights are forever etched deep within my heart.
I see their faces, hear their voices, though so many years apart.
Their love and friendship, counsel and humor, are a part of what I say.
And nudge me now so gently with thoughts I write each day.
I wish I would have realized those many years ago
Our moment was just an instant in the lives we were to know.
I could have brushed a farewell kiss as I gazed into each face.
But one by one, we left not knowing we had shared our last embrace.

"Beloved Most Imagine "
by Kathryn Henneman
48x60 mixed media on canvas
"Beautiful, Bell-Bottomed Boy"
Shirtless, bronzed, bell-bottomed boy,
Beautiful, young and lean.
Soft, silken, coffee-brown hair,
Wind-swept, wild and free.
Graceful, fluid, out-stretched arms,
Expressive, gentle hands.
Lovely, curved, sensuous hips
Legs strong, slender and tan.
Rocked by the gods of music and freedom,
Swaying in rhythmic jubilation,
High on life and love's sweet passion,
He danced for her in celebration.
One girl alone was hypnotized.
Her vision spanned over crowd faces
To link with his piercing blue eyes
And to put her own feet in his paces.
Gone are the days of the young summer sultan
And the girl who watched him with joy.
He dances forever within her heart
Beautiful, bell-bottomed boy.

KATHRYN AND MARILYN MONROE’S STORY
“To produce, to compose, to recall one’s own story of an ‘intuition’ siting has been challenging for me. Then in the wee hours of the morning a thought came to me, and I feel that by sharing this story will add to TIP, The Intuition Project.
Now imagine Marilyn Monroe writing and sending an email to Julianna Lyddon for her project, recounting her own personal intuition story.
This is a true story.
I was living in Los Angeles. It was 1981. A friend of mine, Barry L. Shifman was in the Border Bookstore in Westwood, California. He was observing a man who was looking at a book. The book was the extraordinary biography of Marilyn, by Norman Mailer. The two gentlemen struck up a conversation. My friend Barry was speaking with David Conover. The photographer who was credited with discovering Marilyn Monroe while taking photos for Yank Magazine. David had expressed a need to find someone in Los Angeles to help him with his research. The publisher Grosset & Dunlap had agreed to publish his book about Marilyn. Barry Shifman put me in contact with David Conover, and for the next year I did research for David.
David only called me twice, but in one of those conversations he shared something with me about Marilyn. He had received a phone call from Marilyn two weeks prior to her death. She had made the phone call from a phone booth in Malibu, California. David conveyed that she was very concerned and frightened, and felt that something was going on, and that if something should happen to her that she wanted David to be aware of what she was sensing.
Was this Marilyn’s ‘intuition?’ Let Marilyn’s story be a reminder to listen to, to trust, and to act on ‘your intuition.’
Our ‘intuition’ is a ‘gift’ and needs to be accepted.”

The Intuition Project
'Where does your inspiration come from, Kathryn Henneman?' This question I am asked quite often.
Each time, the answer is different for me. Maybe the
inspiration is really coming through as an 'intuition'.
So, I was quite delighted when I collaborated with
Julianna Lyddon for her new book in the works, 'The Intuition Project .
I do know that when I am asked to do a special
'commission' for a client I take in consideration so
many factors, and feelings regarding the client,
the location, the size of the canvas, the colors I choose.
All of these components play in my creative process.
The painting titled, 'First Intuition' really conveys my
own message of how I receive my intuitive message to
create something very unique and very custom for my
clients. I wanted an image that someone could hold
as in a book, and be holding a small masterpiece of my
work. I am delighted to have created this for Julianna Lyddon.

"Remembrance"
by C.L. Gillmore
Alone.
I wait for them
Beginning in quiet,
Drifting along, silent
Through dappled streams of sunlight
Hovering along the surface of remembrance
Translucent visions from the past
Linking across, still
Ending in whispers,
They wait for me
Alone.
Kathryn's paintings and Cheryl's poetry will soon be available in note cards and will comprise a twelve-month calendar for next year...2013!
